Direct Payments are local council payments for people who have been assessed as needing help from social services, and who would like to arrange and pay for their own care and support services instead of receiving them directly from the local council.
A person must be able to give their consent to receiving direct payments and be able to manage them even if they need help to do this on a day-to-day basis.
Following an assessment, the Council will agree an amount of money that is reasonable to meet your needs. This is called a Personal Budget. To give you the greatest choice in how your needs are met you can take some or all of your Personal Budget as a Direct Payment.
A Direct Payment is money that comes from your personal budget and arrangements may be in place to pay your care provider directly. Direct Payments are for everyone who is over 16 and has been assessed as eligible for services or equipment. There are some people who cannot receive Direct Payments, these include:
-
People receiving treatment for mental health, alcohol and/or substance misuse who are under assessment and/or treatment orders
-
People who are subject to certain criminal justice orders.
At Divine Angels Ltd, we are able to show you how your direct payments and personalised budgets were awarded and how they are to be used to fund your support and other assessed needs. If you are not managing your own payments directly, the authority or a brokerage organisation, may be responsible for making the payment arrangements. We can take the stress out of managing your own care and work with you to organise the care that you need.
One of our dedicated team will visit you at home or wherever you would prefer, and discuss in detail the package of care that we could provide. We work in line with government standards and are fully qualified and insured.
